STF 79 (164 Andromedae) is a quadruple system located 388 light-years from the Sun. The primary component A is a blue-white main-sequence star of spectral class B9.5V, and the companion B is a white main-sequence star of spectral class A2V. Both components are simultaneously spectroscopic binaries. Components A and B orbit around their common center of mass with a period of approximately 9100 years.
100mm - STF 79 is easily distinguishable as a binary star due to the nearly equal and relatively high brightness of its components. At 82x magnification, I observed the primary component with a yellowish tint (inconsistent with its spectral class) and the companion as white.
