A miniature version of the Southern Cross is located in Pegasus, just half a degree west of Algenib (γ Peg). The cross is truly small (20′) and faint. Moreover, it lies on its side. The brightness of the five stars ranges from eighth to tenth magnitude.
VIC: It is easy to find, just like the real cross, but the comparison ends there. However, as a proper cross, it has an additional star in the middle at the intersection of the axes. In any case, as a more familiar Northern Cross, the Swan has a competitor, although a rather small one.
