Édouard Stephan discovered NGC 2572 = St VIIIb-30 on 2 Feb 1877. His position matches UGC 4355.
400/500mm - 17.5" (3/20/93): very faint, fairly small, elongated 2:1 NW-SE, low even surface brightness. A mag 14 star is just off the SSW end 0.5' from the center.
