Royal H. Frost discovered IC 5064 = F. 1215 on a plate taken at Harvard's Arequipa station on 17 May 1904. He noted "bM, magn 13." (same as IC 5063)

600/800mm - 30" (10/18/17 - OzSky): at 264x; moderately bright and large, elongated 3:2 SW-NE, ~50"x30", contains a bright elongated core. Structure was intermittently visible in the halo with averted vision (perhaps spiral arms). Forms a pair with IC 5063 11' NNW.
