Stephane Javelle discovered IC 4568 = J. 3-1377 on 24 Jul 1895. His position corresponds with CGCG 166-028, the first in a group of 8 IC galaxies.

400/500mm - 17.5" (7/3/97): extremely faint, small, slightly elongated, 0.4' diameter, low even surface brightness. First in a group of 8 IC galaxies including IC 4569/70/72/74/80/81/82.
