Stephane Javelle discovered IC 4546 = J. 3-1363 on 24 Jul 1895. His position and description matches this galaxy.

600/800mm - 24" (7/18/17): at 375x; fairly faint, slightly elongated, ~25"x20". A 15th mag star is at the NE edge [15" from center]. IC 4547 lies 5' SE. These two galaxies are on the southwest side of AGC 2079, but lie in the foreground at ~470 million l.y.
