Guillaume Bigourdan discovered IC 167 = Big 133 on 4 Jan 1889. He noted a mag 10.5 star was at 4' separation in PA 358° (N).

400/500mm - 18" (11/22/03): very faint, elongated 4:3, 0.8'x0.6', low surface brightness. Located 5.5' SSE of NGC 694 in a NGC 697 group (also called the NGC 691 group) and 3.9' S of a mag 10.5 star.
