Lewis Swift discovered IC 1221 = Sw. X-35, along with IC 1222, on 10 Jul 1890 and logged "eeF; pS; E; p of 2 [with IC 1222]."
400/500mm - 18" (7/12/10): fairly faint, moderately large, slightly elongated, ~40"x35", very weak concentration. A nice string of stars is SE with the closest mag 13 star 4' SE. IC 1222 = Arp 73 lies 11' SSE. Located 20' SW of mag 5.8 HD 150030.
