The variable star of Mira Ceti type is located in the western part of the constellation, near the star Regulus, at a distance of 372 light years. This red giant changes its brightness from 4.4 mag to 11.3 mag with a long period of 312.43 days. It is therefore one of the brightest long-period variable stars. At the time of maximum brightness, we can notice its distinct dark red shade, which nicely contrasts with the white star 19 Leonis, located 8' to the south.
