The asterism, even in a smaller telescope, is a nice, wide pair of yellow 5.3 magnitude and blue 9.8 magnitude components, which are separated by 31.4". The third component, with a magnitude of 7.9, is separated by 96". Nearby, there is the double star 6 Lyn and two other wide pairs. The one located one degree northeast of 5 Lyn is composed of an orange and blue component, while the second one consists of two white components.
