The red giant, one of the most famous Mira Ceti variable stars. It changes its apparent brightness from 3.5 mag to 10.9 mag in a period of 389.6 days, which astronomers first noticed in the 17th century. However, the period has likely shortened by about 100 days since then. It is approximately 700 light-years away and at its greatest maximum surpasses the luminosity of 7000 Suns.
