A mighty bird of prey with a wingspan of almost 1.5 degrees, holding its prey in the form of the open star cluster NGC 7160, soars through the rich field of the Milky Way. Therefore, it's not entirely easy to find it among the other stars. It is composed of numerous stars around magnitude 9, with the brightest in the eagle's legs having a magnitude of 6.7.
VIC: This beautiful but challenging asterism was discovered by Saša using a small Telementor (C63/840 mm) on August 30, 2014, from Říčany. It is suitable for binoculars, but it requires a clear sky to showcase its wings well.
