Red Necked Emu

< A special asterism for individuals with great imagination is located in the dense region of the Milky Way. This little creature, made up of stars ranging from the fifth to the eighth magnitude and even fainter ones, takes a bit of effort to discern.

The brightest star, 29 Cyg (a binary star), is at the end of the tail, with one leg extending northwest and the head pointing south. It is named after the reddish star in its throat.

VIC: I hesitated for a long time to include this asterism in the list. I don't see an ostrich or any other bird there, but so be it. Some sources in this area mention the so-called "Spiral Cluster," a kind of S-shaped spiral galaxy with a red star in the center.
