Horseshoe

<

A very faint and inconspicuous asterism in binoculars, consisting of about twenty stars ranging from seventh to eleventh magnitude in the rich band of the Milky Way east of Deneb, halfway to M39. Its shape resembles a horseshoe.

VIC: A relatively challenging object in binoculars without knowledge of its precise location. The presence of brighter stars makes orientation difficult. It took me a while to find it for the first time; it can easily be overlooked in the flood of faint stars. In larger instruments, it forms a lovely little horseshoe, marred only by the bright 7.0 mag star to the east.
