This object is a very compact, luminous Seyfert galaxy and is classified by some criteria as a quasar with a redshift of z = .061, implying a distance of ~830 million l.y.

400/500mm - 17.5" (9/7/96): at 100x appears as a mag 13.5-14 "star" using a GSC finder chart to identify. At 220x, the completely stellar core is surrounded by a much fainter 15" halo with averted vision. The halo was easier to view at 415x.
