400/500mm - 17.5" (2/1/03): fairly faint, moderately large, elongated 4:3 NW-SE, 1.2'x0.9', small brighter core. Forms the western vertex of a triangle with two mag 11.5 stars 4' E and 4' ESE. A close pair of mag 14.5 stars (9" separation) 8' ESE looks nebulous at low power. This galaxy is possibly NGC 2253, though it is off in both RA and Dec (see identification notes for NGC 2253).
