John Herschel discovered NGC 7802 = h2293 on 25 Sep 1830 and logged "vF; S; R; psbM." His single position is accurate.
400/500mm - 17.5" (9/15/90): faint, very small, elongated 3:2 SW-NE, well defined small bright core, much fainter extensions.
