Albert Marth discovered NGC 7705 = m 585 on 27 Oct 1864 and briefly commented "eF". His position is accurate.
400/500mm - 17.5" (8/27/87): very faint, very small, slightly elongated NW-SE, just a weak concentration at the core. Located 5.7' S of NGC 7704 in a group with NGC 7706.
600/800mm - 24" (11/24/14): faint to fairly faint, small, round, 20"-24" diameter, contains a very small brighter nucleus. Faintest of 3 NGC's in a N-S string with NGC 7704 5.7' N.
