Wilhelm Tempel discovered NGC 7529 = T IV-12 on 2 Jul 1880 and noted "vF, I thought it was Comet Faye." His micrometric position matches UGC 12431 to within a few arcseconds.

400/500mm - 17.5" (11/1/86): fairly faint, fairly small, almost round, almost even surface brightness. Located 14.5' E of mag 7.6 SAO 128037. Outlying member of the Pegasus I cluster.
