Édouard Stephan discovered NGC 7514 = St VIII(a)-27 on 21 Sep 1876 using the 31" reflector at the Marseille Observatory. His position is off by 0.7' (too far northeast).
400/500mm - 17.5" (8/13/88): fairly faint, fairly small, oval WNW-ESE, weak concentration. Located 3.2' SSE of mag 8.5 SAO 73084.
