Albert Marth discovered NGC 7366 = m 495 on 7 Aug 1864 and noted "eF, S, stellar." His position is 1' northwest of PGC 69629.

400/500mm - 17.5" (8/4/97): extremely faint, small, round, 20" diameter, very weak concentration. Initially, I had a difficult time locating this object, but once identified could hold continuously with averted vision. Located 2' WSW of a nice pair of mag 12/12.5 stars [25" separation] oriented N-S.

17.5" (8/20/88): not found.
