Édouard Stephan discovered NGC 620 = St III-2 on 14 Dec 1871 with the 31" reflector at the Marseille Observatory and reported "eF, vS, R, bM but no nucleus." His position is accurate.
400/500mm - 17.5" (11/30/91): fairly faint, small, round, broad concentration, fairly high surface brightness. A mag 12 star is 45" WSW.
