Albert Marth discovered NGC 6029 = m 298 on 2 Jun 1864 and noted "vF, vS." His position is 1' north of CGCG 079-023 = PGC 56756.
400/500mm - 17.5" (5/13/88): very faint, small, elongated ~E-W, bright core, very faint stellar nucleus. This is a double system (not resolved).
