Édouard Stephan discovered NGC 6022 = St XII-76, along with NGC 6023, on 19 May 1881. His position is accurate.
400/500mm - 17.5" (5/13/88): extremely faint, small, oval. Located 1.6' SSW of NGC 6023 in AGC 2147.
