John Herschel discovered NGC 5151 = h1603 on 8 May 1826 and recorded "eF; S; R; has a B * [HD 116941] nf."
400/500mm - 17.5" (5/30/92): faint, very small, round, weak concentration. Located 5' S of mag 7.8 SAO 100566.
