John Herschel discovered NGC 5125 = h1593 on 18 Jan 1828 and logged "not vF; S; R; gbM."
400/500mm - 17.5" (5/27/95): fairly faint, fairly small, slightly elongated N-S, 50" diameter. Even concentration to a bright core and very small nucleus. At steady moments, the nucleus appears stellar.
