John Herschel discovered NGC 4329 = h1214 on 9 Mar 1828 and recorded (single observation) "F; sB; R; bM to nucleus. His position is 1.4' north of PGC 40212.
400/500mm - 17.5" (5/19/01): fairly faint, small, slightly elongated SW-NE, moderate surface brightness, 25" diameter. Seems fainter than listed blue magnitude of 12.5. MCG -02-32-006 lies 24' WNW.
