William Herschel discovered NGC 4128 = H I-263 on 6 Apr 1793 (sweep 1036) and noted "cB, lE." CH's reduced position is 2' north of UGC 7120. CGCG does not label its 335-008 as NGC 4128.

400/500mm - 17.5" (3/20/93): moderately bright, fairly small, very elongated 4:1 WSW-ENE, 1.5'x0.4'. Contains a very bright core and almost stellar nucleus that dominates the much fainter extensions.
