Heinrich d'Arrest discovered NGC 3809 on 20 Aug 1866 with the 11" refractor at Copenhagen. His position (measured twice) matches UGC 6649.
400/500mm - 18" (5/31/03): moderately bright, fairly small, round, 0.8' diameter, well-concentrated with a small, prominent core and stellar nucleus. Very symmetrical appearance.
