William Herschel discovered NGC 3762 = H II-837 = h921 on 19 Mar 1790 (sweep 953) and noted "pB, lE." CH's reduced position is 1' northwest of UGC 6591 and JH's position (used in the NGC) is 1' south.

400/500mm - 17.5" (4/14/01): this attractive spindle appeared fairly faint/moderately bright, fairly small, elongated 7:2 NNW-SSE, 1.2'x0.35', sharp bright core, stellar nucleus. NGC 3725 lies 27' WNW.
