John Herschel discovered NGC 3677 = h888 on 19 Mar 1828 and noted "S; R; vsbM to a * 16m." His mean position from 2 observations is 1' north of UGC 6441.
400/500mm - 18" (5/30/03): fairly faint, fairly small, elongated 4:3 NW-SE, 0.8'x0.6'. Weak, even concentration to a small, brighter core. Collinear with two mag 11 stars 4' and 6' NNE.
