John Herschel discovered NGC 3624 = h855 on 27 Dec 1827 and simply noted as "eF." His position matches CGCG 039-114 = PGC 34599.

400/500mm - 17.5" (5/4/02): very faint, diffuse glow with a brighter center. Halo fades into background, ~40" diameter. A mag 13 star lies 2.5' N. Forms a close pair with CGCG 039-113 2.1' SW.
