John Herschel discovered NGC 3606 = h3335 on 20 Apr 1835 NGC 3606 and logged "eF; R; S; gbM; 15"." His single observation matches ESO 377-032.

400/500mm - 18" (3/17/07): moderately bright, fairly small, round, 0.6' diameter, small bright core, relatively bright stellar nucleus. Two mag 10 and 11 stars lie 4.5' and 5.5' NNE. ESO 377-031 lies 9' SSW.
