Édouard Stephan discovered NGC 3515 = St XII-41 on 20 Apr 1882 with the 31-inch reflector at Marseille. His position matches UGC 6139 = PGC 33467
400/500mm - 17.5" (3/25/95): very faint, fairly small, elongated 3:2 SW-NE, 0.8'x0.5', weak concentration. Located 13.7' NE of NGC 3512.
