Heinrich d'Arrest discovered NGC 3376 on 19 Feb 1863. His position, measured on 2 nights, is an exact match with UGC 5891.
400/500mm - 17.5" (3/22/96): faint, small, slightly elongated, 25" diameter, moderate surface brightness, faint stellar nucleus. A mag 14 star is 1.3' N which has a very faint companion close west.
