Guillaume Bigourdan discovered NGC 3151 = Big 41, along with nearby NGCs 3150, 3159 and 3161, on 1 Feb 1886 in the NGC 3158 group. His position matches CGCG 211-020 = PGC 29796.
300/350mm - 13.1" (2/25/84): very faint, very small. Located just west of a star.
400/500mm - 17.5" (3/23/85): fairly faint, very small, weak concentration. A mag 12 star is 2.0' NE. Forms a pair with NGC 3150 2.3' N. An extremely faint galaxy is 55" E of center (2MASXi J1013337+383705). Member of the NGC 3158 group.
