John Herschel discovered NGC 3125 = h3227 on 30 Mar 1835 and noted "F; R: gbM; 20"." His mean position from two observations matches ESO 435-041.
400/500mm - 17.5" (3/28/87): fairly faint, small, roundish, brighter core. NGC 3125 is a nearby blue compact dwarf galaxy. Member of the NGC 3125 group (LGG 189).
