John Herschel discovered NGC 1351 = h2544 on 19 Oct 1835 and reported "pB, R, psbM, 30 arcsec.". His position matches ESO 358-012 = PGC 13028.
300/350mm - 13.1" (10/10/86): fairly faint, fairly small, oval NW-SE, bright core. Fornax I cluster member.
400/500mm - 18" (12/22/11): fairly bright, oval 3:2 NW-SE, 0.8'x0.5', high surface brightness. Brightens evenly to a very small bright core and a quasi-stellar nucleus. Located 9' SE of mag 9.4 HD 21851.
