The IC 720 duo is a member of the small USGC U411 group (z = .02) with LEDA 3091447 4' N. This tiny galaxy appeared very faint, round, 12" diameter, stellar nucleus. Other members include CGCG 068-038 8' NE, IC 722 13.5' NNE and IC 724 20' NE.

Rudolph Spitaler discovered IC 720 = Spitaler 43 on 25 Mar 1892. His position is accurate.

600/800mm - 28" (4/12/18): at 285x; fairly faint, fairly small, overall elongated ~2:1 N-S, ~0.8'x0.4'. Resolved into two very small glows with merged outer halos [centers separated by 16"]. The northern galaxy is slightly larger and brighter, ~0.4' diameter, with a quasi-stellar nucleus. The southern component appeared as a faint knot, ~15" diameter.
