Stephane Javelle discovered IC 577 = J. 1-173, along with IC 578, on 22 Mar 1892. His position is accurate. The description should read "F * s[outh]", instead of "F * n"

600/800mm - 24" (4/13/18): at 200x; very faint, small glow with a mag 14.5 star superimposed at the south edge, 25" diameter. Forms a pair (KPG 220) with IC 578 3' ESE.
