Stephane Javelle discovered IC 548 = J. 2-638 on 13 Apr 1893. His position is accurate.

600/800mm - 24" (2/8/18): at 375x; faint, very small, elongated 2:1 ~N-S, ~15"x8". Situated between stars; a mag 15.5 star 0.9' NE and a mag 15.7 star 0.6' SSW. IC 548 is the third in a trio (line of sight) with NGC 2939 5.5' NW and NGC 2940 11' NNW.
