Stephane Javelle discovered IC 50 = J. 1-32 on 27 Sep 1892. He noted "faint, appears as a mag 13 star surrounded by nebulosity" and measured an accurate position.
600/800mm - 24" (9/30/16): at 282x; fairly faint, small, round, 18" diameter, gradually increases to a faint stellar nucleus. Situated within a triangle formed by mag 9.1 HD 4306 10' WSW, mag 8.5 HD 4435 7.5' SE and mag 9.7 HD 4410 4' NE. The latter star has two wide 13.5-14 companions. In addtion a mag 11.2 star is 2' SE.
