DeLisle Stewart discovered IC 4810 = DS 548 on an Arequipa plate taken on 16 Sept 1901. He reported "eF, S, eE at 140°, lbM."

600/800mm - 30" (10/12/15 - OzSky): at 394x; fairly faint, very large, thin edge-on streak 8:1 NW-SE, 2.4'x0.3', broad and fairly weak concentration, bulges slightly near the center. A mag 16 star is just east of the northwest extension and a mag 15.4 star is 30" W of center.
