Hermann Kobold discovered IC 4041 = K. 2-30 on 8 May 1896 with the 18-inch refractor at Strasbourg and recorded "vF, pS."

400/500mm - 17.5" (4/28/90): extremely faint and small, round. Located in the core of AGC 1656 7.3' ENE of NGC 4889. Nearby galaxies include IC 4042 1.6' SSE and IC 4051 2.9' E.
