Stephane Javelle discovered IC 392 = J. 2-604 on 6 Jan 1894. His position matches UGC 3158, although neither UGC nor MCG equate their entry with IC 392.

400/500mm - 17.5" (2/11/96): faint, fairly small, irregularly round, 1.0' diameter, even concentration to a very small brighter core. Located 2.3' WNW of a mag 10 star.
