Max Wolf discovered IC 3563 = W. IV-229 on a Heidelberg plate taken 23 Mar 1903.
900/1200mm - 48" (4/7/13): IC 3563 is a very compact HII region and IC 3564 a star association attached at its east side. Both objects were easily visible, but not resolved, as a fairly faint 20" patch near the southeast end of NGC 4559, 3' from center.
