Max Wolf discovered IC 3561 = W. IV-228 on a Heidelberg plate taken 23 Mar 1903. He reported "cF, vS, R, bM *."
400/500mm - 18" (5/12/07): very faint, very small, round, 20" diameter. Located 4.2' ESE of NGC 4556 in a small group of galaxies.
