Lewis Swift discovered IC 308 = Sw. VIII-25 on 11 Sep 1888 and recorded "eF; pS; iR; resolvability suspected." His position is at the east edge of UGC 2619. Neither UGC, PGC nor HyperLeda label UGC 2619 as IC 308. The same night he discovered a number of galaxies in the Perseus cluster.
400/500mm - 17.5" (12/3/88): very faint, small, round. A mag 14 star is at the south edge and a mag 15 star is superimposed. Located 11.7' SW of IC 310 within AGC 426. Appears brighter than UGC magnitude but is not listed in CGCG or MCG.
600/800mm - 24" (12/6/18): at 375x; nearly fairly faint, small, round, very small brighter nucleus with a diffuse 20" halo. A mag 14.6 star is at the south edge. Situated in a rich star field on the southwest side of the Perseus Galaxy Cluster (AGC 426), ~45' WSW of NGC 1275.
