Hermann Kobold discovered IC 2943 visually on 6 Jul 1896 with the 18-inch refractor at the Strasbourg Observatory.
400/500mm - 17.5" (3/19/88): very faint, very small, round, weak concentration. Forms a close pair with brighter NGC 3759 located 2' SE. Member of AGC 1318.
