Stephane Javelle discovered IC 268 = J. 1-101, along with IC 269, 270 and 272, on 1 Dec 1891. His position is accurate.
600/800mm - 24" (12/20/17): at 375x; extremely to very faint, elongated 2:1 or 5:2 SW-NE, ~25"x12", very low surface brightness. Forms a pair with IC 269 2.2' N with a mag 10.7 star the same distance ENE. Faintest in a quartet with IC 270 and 272.
